The Finishing Touch.
Our magnificent Granite Mountain Granite Copings and Post Caps are perhaps our most famous and unique products. Our traditional and handsome capstones are used to finish the top of masonry walls and entry posts. They create a sense of permanence and distinction in addition to protecting the walls below. On low walls, Copings can also function as seating benches or shelving for planters and art objects.
APPEARANCE:
Our handsome Granite Mountain Granite Copings and Post Caps are cut from granite quarry blocks, and match our Granite Mountain Random Granite Cladding stone. Copings generally have chiseled and flamed crowns (tops) and edges - creating a traditional, hand-made product of distinction. Contact us for finishing options.
SIZES:
Standard Wall Copings are 3 and 4 inches thick, although Granite Mountain custom cuts Wall Copings and Post Caps to any thickness. Matching Post Caps should be slightly heavier, so our standard Post Cap sizes are 5 and 6 inches thick. Copings are custom manufactured to be slightly wider than the wall below. Coping and Post Cap "overhangs" are a matter of personal preference, but most clients prefer an overhang of about 2" .
STYLES:
Two Styles are available: "Classic" style with chiseled edges and a slightly crowned but flat top; and "Consular" style with a sawn sloped top. Some projects use both styles, while others use only one.
- "Classic" flat topped Copings and Post Caps are more casual. They also function as seating benches, or as a place to display pots or artwork.
- "Consular" style Copings and Post Caps are more formal with sawn slopes. They are often specified for exterior entries of distinction.
